Walter Dean Myers

Walter Dean Myers has written many books, both fiction and nonfiction. While he is known for his books about sports and characters with rough lives he has also written many historical stories. One if his influential books is Amistad. This nonfiction book tells the story of how slaves were transported to the United States. It gives the reader a true depiction of the events that occurred in American history and how one slave ship’s contents became free. This is a great nonfiction story and brings American history to life.
